About Frankie Sterling Studio

Product development connected to commercial reality

Frankie Sterling Studio helps founders and manufacturers turn product opportunities into commercially viable, production-ready outcomes.

Our approach brings product strategy, design, engineering coordination and manufacturing thinking together from the beginning — so decisions are made with the finished product, the customer and the business case in mind.

We stay close to the work from early definition through development and production, bringing in specialist engineering, suppliers and manufacturing expertise when the project requires it.

Built from hands-on product development

Physical products rarely fail because of one design decision. Problems usually develop in the gaps between commercial objectives, customer requirements, design, engineering, suppliers and manufacturing.

Frankie Sterling Studio exists to close those gaps.

We help clients establish a clear product direction, keep the different parts of development aligned and make important decisions with the finished product—not just the next milestone—in mind.

Our approach is practical, collaborative and focused on moving products toward real commercial and manufacturing outcomes.

Why the studio was created

Frankie Sterling Studio grew from hands-on experience developing complex physical products alongside the people responsible for designing, engineering, manufacturing and delivering them.

That experience revealed a recurring problem: good product ideas often lose momentum between concept and production.

Requirements become unclear. Decisions are made in isolation. Responsibilities are divided between different specialists. Manufacturing input arrives too late. Issues that could have been resolved early become expensive changes later.

The studio was created to provide a more connected approach—one that considers the commercial opportunity, the technical solution and the manufacturing pathway together.

Led by Julian Villegas

Frankie Sterling Studio is led by Julian Villegas, a product development specialist with practical experience supporting complex physical products through design, technical development, supplier coordination and production preparation.

Julian works directly with clients throughout each engagement. His role is to understand the complete product opportunity, establish a clear development direction and keep the commercial, technical and manufacturing priorities connected as the project progresses.

This direct involvement gives clients a consistent point of responsibility from the first conversation through to delivery.

Better products come from connected decisions

See the whole product
A product is more than its design. Customer needs, commercial goals, technical requirements, cost, suppliers, manufacturing and the intended user experience must all work together.
We consider these factors as parts of one product-development system.
Make important decisions early
Unresolved questions become more expensive as a project moves closer to tooling and production. We help make requirements, assumptions, constraints and risks visible early so clients can commit time and capital with greater confidence.
Stay close to delivery
A concept only creates value when it can be developed, produced and brought to market.
We stay close to the work as it progresses, helping maintain direction and continuity between the original opportunity and the final manufacturing outcome.

Senior-led, supported by the right specialists

Every engagement is led directly by Frankie Sterling Studio.

When a project requires additional expertise, we bring together the appropriate engineers, naval architects, manufacturers, fabricators, composite specialists, suppliers and other technical partners.

The team is built around the needs of the product rather than a fixed agency structure. Each specialist works within a shared brief and development direction, while Frankie Sterling Studio provides continuity and coordination across the project.

This gives clients direct senior involvement with access to the specialist capability required at each stage.

Practical involvement, not just advice

Senior-led
Clients work directly with the person responsible for understanding the product and guiding its development.

Commercially grounded
Product decisions are considered alongside customer needs, investment priorities, cost and the wider business case.

Production focused
Manufacturing, suppliers and implementation are considered throughout development—not left until the end.

Clearly structured
Engagements begin with a defined scope, responsibilities and expected outcomes.

Let’s talk about what you’re trying to build

Whether you are assessing a new opportunity, developing an existing product or preparing for production, the first step is understanding where the project stands and what needs to happen next.

Most engagements begin with a focused 30-minute discovery call to discuss the product, your objectives, the current challenges and the most useful next step.

Meet the passionate experts committed to building your vision and driving exceptional results

Frankie Sterling Studio leads each engagement directly and builds the project team around what the product actually needs.

That can include specialist engineers, naval architects, manufacturers, composite specialists, fabricators, suppliers and other technical partners — coordinated around one clear development direction. This gives clients senior-level involvement while still accessing the specialist capability required to move from concept through to production.

Direct involvement throughout the engagement — not handed off to a junior delivery team.

Support across product definition, design, engineering coordination and manufacturing readiness.
